HENRIETTA, N.Y.—The Hobart baseball team secured a decisive 17-6 victory over the Rochester Institute of Technology at the RIT Baseball Complex to force a winner-take-all Game 7 in the Liberty League Tournament this afternoon. The Statesmen capitalized on 14 hits, 12 walks and six hit batters to fuel their offensive onslaught.
Junior
Sean Garvin recorded three singles and a double in seven at-bats, driving in three and scoring three. First-year
Jack O'Neil added two hits, drove in two runs, and also scored three times. Sophomore
Jack Farnen posted five RBIs, including a 3-run triple. Senior
Christian Petry was on base four times, singling, walking and getting hit twice. He came around to score three times.
Junior
Trevor Kimball pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing nine hits and four earned runs while issuing one walk and striking out two batters. He threw a total of 74 pitches, 45 for strikes. Senior
Max Friedlander entered in relief, pitching 4 1/3 innings, giving up three hits and two earned runs. Friedlander struck out five, including all three batters he faced in the ninth to secure the win.
In the second inning, Hobart capitalized on a wild pitch to score
Will Jones, who had reached third after a series of walks, and a sacrifice fly by junior
Jack Byrnes brought in junior
Cole Conte. This gave Hobart a 2-1 lead after two innings. The momentum continued in the third when Garvin scored on Farnen's groundout, extending the lead to 3-1.
Hobart's offense surged in the fourth inning. First-year
Jack Gangemi scored on a hit by pitch with the bases loaded, followed by a two-RBI single from Garvin that brought home Petry and Byrnes. Senior
Will Jones added a sacrifice fly to score O'Neil, pushing Hobart's lead to 7-2.
RIT responded with two runs in the fifth, narrowing the gap to 7-4. However, Hobart broke the game open in the sixth with Farnen's two-RBI single, followed by
Quinn Dashefsky's two-RBI single. The offensive outburst extended Hobart's lead to 11-4.
In the seventh, Garvin's RBI single and a bases-loaded walk to Dashefsky added two more runs, making it 13-4. Hobart continued its offensive display in the eighth with Farnen's three-run triple after hits by Byrnes and Petry, along with a single from O'Neil, further increasing the lead to 17-6.

Hobart (30-12) and RIT (23-13) will play a decisive Game 7 in the Liberty League Tournament on Saturday at 4 p.m.
