HENRIETTA, N.Y.—The Hobart baseball team secured a decisive 17-6 victory over the Rochester Institute of Technology at the RIT Baseball Complex to force a winner-take-all Game 7 in the Liberty League Tournament this afternoon. The Statesmen capitalized on 14 hits, 12 walks and six hit batters to fuel their offensive onslaught.

Junior Sean Garvin recorded three singles and a double in seven at-bats, driving in three and scoring three. First-year Jack O'Neil added two hits, drove in two runs, and also scored three times. Sophomore Jack Farnen posted five RBIs, including a 3-run triple. Senior Christian Petry was on base four times, singling, walking and getting hit twice. He came around to score three times.

In the second inning, Hobart capitalized on a wild pitch to score Will Jones, who had reached third after a series of walks, and a sacrifice fly by junior Jack Byrnes brought in junior Cole Conte. This gave Hobart a 2-1 lead after two innings. The momentum continued in the third when Garvin scored on Farnen's groundout, extending the lead to 3-1.

Hobart's offense surged in the fourth inning. First-year Jack Gangemi scored on a hit by pitch with the bases loaded, followed by a two-RBI single from Garvin that brought home Petry and Byrnes. Senior Will Jones added a sacrifice fly to score O'Neil, pushing Hobart's lead to 7-2.

RIT responded with two runs in the fifth, narrowing the gap to 7-4. However, Hobart broke the game open in the sixth with Farnen's two-RBI single, followed by Quinn Dashefsky's two-RBI single. The offensive outburst extended Hobart's lead to 11-4.

In the seventh, Garvin's RBI single and a bases-loaded walk to Dashefsky added two more runs, making it 13-4. Hobart continued its offensive display in the eighth with Farnen's three-run triple after hits by Byrnes and Petry, along with a single from O'Neil, further increasing the lead to 17-6.
