Six Hobart student-athletes were among the honorees named to the 2025-26 NCAA Division III Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team selected by College Sports Communicators.
For the second straight year, the Statesmen hockey team had five players honored. Seniors
Damon Beaver,
Tristan Fasig and
Kahlil Fontana and juniors
Bauer Morrissey and
Conor Lally were named to the team. Sophomore skier
Will Patton also earned a spot on the team.
To be nominated for Academic All-District consideration, student-athletes must be a starter or significant reserve, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. CSC member institutions can nominate up to six student-athletes per gender for at-large recognition. The top scholar-athletes in each district advance to the national Academic All-America ballot.
CSC sponsors Academic All-America® programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, women's volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's swimming & diving, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, baseball, softball, men's track and field/cross country and women's track and field/cross country. All other championship sports are eligible through the At-Large program.
Beaver graduated with a degree in psychological science. He is a two-time NEHC All-Academic selection.
Beaver played in 21 games this season, posting a 20-1-0 overall record with a 0.99 GAA, a .951 save percentage and seven shutouts. He was first in the nation in winning percentage (.952), GAA, save percentage and shutouts on his way to becoming the first Statesman to win the Sid Watson Award. A two-time AHCA All-American and a two-time conference goaltender of the year, Beaver cemented himself as one of the best goalies in program history. He was 73-5-1 with an NCAA Division III record 26 shutouts during his career. Beaver allowed just 81 goals, compiling a 1.02 GAA and a .955 save percentage.
A two-time CSC Academic All-District selection, Fasig graduated with a degree in history and political science. He is a three-time AHCA All-American Scholar and a two-time NEHC All-Academic pick.
An assistant captain, Fasig played in all 31 games this winter. He had 21 points on six goals and 15 assists. Fasig had a season-high three points on two goals and an assist against Buffalo State. A center, he led Hobart with 307 faceoff wins. Fasig won 10 or more faceoffs 15 times. He played in 113 games during his career, recording 66 points.
Fontana graduated with a degree in business management and entrepreneurship. The 2026 SUNYAC Men's Hockey Scholar Athlete of the Year earned academic all-district recognition for the second straight year. Fontana is a three-time AHCA All-American Scholar and a two-time NEHC All-Academic pick.
A captain, Fontana played in all 31 games this season. He earned AHCA All-America East first team recognition and was a finalist for the Sid Watson Award after leading the Statesmen with 21 goals. He was second on the team with 42 points. Fontana was seventh in the nation in power-play goals (7), ninth in game-winning goals (4), 13th in goals per game (0.68) and 18th in points per game (1.35). He played in 116 career games, notching 88 points on 42 goals and 46 assists.
Morrissey is a business management and entrepreneurship major. He is a two-time AHCA All-American Scholar and was named to the NEHC All-Academic team last year.
Morrissey played in all 31 games for the second straight year. A defenseman, he had 24 points on seven goals and 17 assists on his way to earning AHCA All-America East third team recognition. Morrissey has played in 89 career games, recording 74 points on 15 goals and 59 assists.
Lally is an economics major. He was named to the NEHC All-Academic team and was an AHCA All-American Scholar following his sophomore year.
An assistant captain, Lally played in all 31 games this season. He was named to the AHCA All-America East first team and was named the SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year, tallying 39 points on 14 goals and 25 assists. He was 23rd in the nation in assists per game (0.81) and 26th in points per game (1.26). Lally has played in 90 career games and has 75 points on 20 goals and 55 assists.
Hobart went 30-1-0 this season and advanced to the national championship game for the fourth straight season. Over the last four seasons, the Statesmen have compiled a 116-6-2 record, including three national championships.
A sophomore on the alpine skiing team, Patton is a geoscience major. He is a two-time USCSA Scholar All-American.
On the slopes, Patton was a two-time USCSA All-American, earning recognition in both the slalom and skier cross events. In March, Patton became the first national champion in program history, winning the slalom race at the USCSA National Championships in Lake Placid, New York. In addition, he was eighth in the skier cross event. Patton also earned All-Mideast honors after winning the giant slalom and finishing fourth in the slalom at the regional championship. As a first-year, Patton earned All-American recognition in the skier cross, giant slalom and slalom events.
