GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith Soccer Head Coach Laura Burnett-Kurie '08 recently announced Jakob Jaufmann will join the Heron coaching staff. Jaufmann will serve as the head coach for the development team and an assistant coach on the varsity squad.

"I'm excited to welcome Jakob into our Heron Family," Burnett-Kurie said. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and ability to develop players to compete at the highest level, which aligns with the philosophy of the development team. Additionally, his buy-in and commitment to helping us win our next Liberty League Championship and recruit for continued excellence on and off the field is unmatched."

Jaufmann comes to William Smith after spending the last eight years as an assistant coach at Monroe Community College. With the Tribunes, he worked on recruiting coordination and player identification. Jaufmann also helped with team development through match analysis and performance monitoring. Prior to his time at MCC, he was an assistant coach and head junior varsity coach for St. John Fisher for two seasons. Jaufmann was also a recruiting coordinator for the Cardinals.

In addition to his work at the collegiate level, Jaufmann has served as the director and head coach for Northeast Rush since 2019. In his role, he oversaw coaching standards, player development and program performance. Jaufmann also helped build a strong recruiting network.

William Smith opens its season on Sept. 1 when it welcomes Emmanuel to Cozzens Field. The non-conference contest is set to begin at 3 p.m. The development team will kick off its season on Sept. 3 when it takes on St. John Fisher at 7:30 p.m. on Boswell Field.
