Zeshan Dixon's team-high 13 tackles and three amazing interceptions against Brockport earned him a spot on the D3football.com National Team of the Week. Yesterday, Dixon won the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week Award for his efforts against the Golden Eagles.
Dixon led Hobart's air defenses that resulted in five takeaways. His first pick, a leaping, one-handed grab, landed at No. 10 on ESPN's SportsCenter Top Plays. Dixon's third interception clinched the victory as he returned it 72 yards for a touchdown and a 27-14 lead with 1:45 remaining. He's the first Statesman to produce three interceptions in a game since 2008.
Dixon recorded a game-high 10 solo tackles against Brockport to go with three assisted stops. His 13 tackles are the most by a Hobart defensive back since Nov. 12, 2022.
Through two games, Dixon leads the Liberty League and is sixth in the nation in interceptions per game (1.5). He also leads the league and is 13th in the country in passes defended per game (2.5). Dixon leads Hobart with 17 tackles.
A two-time All-Liberty League selection, Dixon has appeared in 34 career games at Hobart, producing 113 tackles, 11 pass breakups, five interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Hobart is 2-0 and will play its first road game of the season, when the Statesmen visit Utica (2-0) on Saturday, Sept. 19. Kickoff at Gaetano Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
