The William Smith field hockey team is back in action this week on Wednesday, Sept. 16, when it hosts Nazareth at 7 p.m. on McCooey Field.

ABOUT THE HERONS: 

• William Smith enters the week with a 3-2 record and is coming off a 4-0 win against Lebanon Valley on Sunday. 
• Juniors Eliza Freeland and Caroline Kogut earned Liberty League praise after three strong showings last week. Freeland was named the conference's offensive performer of the week, while Kogut was tabbed the defensive performer of the week.
• Freeland leads the Herons with eight points on four goals. Senior Leah Griffith follows with seven points on two goals and three assists, while Kogut has chipped in six points on two goals and two assists.  
• Kogut also leads William Smith with two defensive saves this season. 
• Sophomore Olivia Terranova has played the majority of minutes in goal for the Herons this season. She is 3-1 with a 2.13 goals against average and a .771 save percentage. First-year Ryan Marsh is 0-1 on the season and adds a 0.70 GAA and a .800 save percentage.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN FLYERS: 

• Nazareth enters the week with a 0-3 record after suffering a 5-0 loss to Allegheny on Saturday. 
• Lily Kunzman leads the Golden Flyers with two points on one goal. 
• Bella Raymond leads Nazareth defensively with one defensive save. 
• Ayva Kantor has played every minute in the goal for the Golden Flyers. She has a 0-3 record with a 4.33 GAA and a .675 save percentage.  

  
ABOUT THE SERIES: 

• Wednesday's game will be the 25th meeting between the Herons and the Golden Flyers.  
• William Smith is undefeated against Nazareth, including a 3-2 win in Rochester last season. Junior Ana Dios Vidal scored in the win, while Kogut and senior Leah Griffith tallied assists in the non-conference contest.
