ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Hobart cross country team was back in action this morning as it competed in the 2026 Yellowjacket Invitational, hosted by the University of Rochester. The Statesmen finished 14th out of 17 teams at the Genesee Valley Park 8-kilometer course.
Junior Duncan Kipkoech led Hobart with a 64th place finish in the 218-racer field. Kipkoech crossed the finish line at 27:04.6 to earn 45 points for the Statesmen. Sophomore Malachi Quinn followed in 104th place after stopping the clock at 27:51.1. Junior Philip Dilgard-Clark rounded out Hobart's top three after crossing the finish line at 28:01.5 to secure 110th place.
SUNY Geneseo finish on top of the team standings after producing four top-10 finishers, including the top-three finishers. Collin Brown led the Knights and was the event's individual medalist after crossing the line at 25:14.3. He was followed by teammate James Tette in second place with a time of 25:16.0. Colgate finished in second in the team standings, while the host Yellowjackets rounded out the top three teams.

"It was great to get back out there and compete after not racing for a couple of weeks," said Head Coach Tyler Wilkie". "We've dealt with some adversity with illness and nagging injuries but this group continued to show their commitment and work ethic as we were able to put together some really solid performances, including several PRs. I am proud of how this team has persevered and we are excited to keep putting in the work and building towards next weekend's race at the Wildcat Classic."
