William Smith first-year Evie Morris was named the Liberty League Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week by the conference office today.
 
Running in her first collegiate 6K, Morris nearly posted a William Smith top-10 time while leading the Herons to the finish line in the Yellowjacket Invitational. She posted a time of 23:58.4, just 3.11 seconds behind the No. 10 time on William Smith's all-time 6K times list. In a field of more than 200 runners, Morris was 42nd overall. She also led the Herons to the line in her collegiate debut on Sept. 4.
 
William Smith will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 26 when the Herons compete in the SUNY Poly Wildcat Invitational. The 6K is set to get underway at 10 a.m.
