The William Smith volleyball team will be back in action this weekend when it opens Liberty League play at home against Union on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m., and Vassar on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Bristol Gymnasium.

ABOUT THE HERONS
- William Smith enters the weekend with a 7-2 record and are receiving votes in this week's AVCA national poll.
- The Herons are coming off a 2-1 weekend at the New England Classic, sweeping Brandeis and Smith before falling to then No. 22 Babson.
- First-year Cassidy Breuer leads William Smith in kills per set (3.91) and points per set (4.25). She leads the Liberty League in both categories and ranks 29th in the nation in kills per set.
- Junior Emily Fulton follows with 2.94 kills per set and 3.73 points per set. She also leads the team with 21 aces on the season, ranking fifth in the conference in service aces per set (0.66).
- First-year setter Jayden Hanson leads the Herons with 5.16 assists per set and junior Delainy Williams follows close behind with 5.00 assists per set. Hanson ranks eighth in the Liberty League, while Williams is ninth.
- Defensively, William Smith is led by junior libero Kali Vanderhoof. She is averaging 4.69 digs per set which ranks second in the conference.
- Junior Arielle Newsome ranks second in the Liberty League in blocks per set (1.03) and leads the team with 33 total blocks.
ABOUT THE GARENT CHARGERS
- Union enters the weekend with a 7-3 overall record and is coming off of a 0-3 weekend at the New England Classic. The Garnet Chargers dropped four-set battles with UMass Dartmouth and Smith before being swept by the host Beavers.
- Kayla Martinez Cartagena leads the team with 2.85 kills per set while Georgia Pinciaro follows with 1.84.
- Allie Kronenberg has recorded a team-leading 237 assists, averaging 7.41 per set.
- Defensively, Vanessa Morgan leads the Garnet Chargers with 2.54 digs per set, while Maddie McCarron leads in blocking with 0.88 blocks per set.
ABOUT THE BREWERS
- Vassar enters the weekend with a 5-5 overall record and is coming off losses to Dickinson and Swarthmore over the weekend. The Brewers will take RIT on Friday before traveling to Geneva on Saturday.
- Maura McAusland leads Vassar with 3.35 kills per set, with Holland Kaplan following close behind with 3.13 kills per set.
- Francesca Medrano averages a team-leading 9.00 assists per set.
- Defensively, Riley Huang leads the Brewers with 3.19 digs per set, while Gina O'Connell averages a team-leading 0.97 blocks per set.
