TROY, N.Y.—The Hobart football team suffered a 33-7 loss at RPI to open Liberty League play this afternoon.
The offense, playing without quarterback
Aidan Conrath, never got on track, managing just 219 yards on the day and just one fourth quarter touchdown.
Junior
Jeremy Weiss got the start in place of Conrath. He was 15-of-37 passing for 126 yards, but was intercepted twice and fumbled on a sack. Senior wide receiver
Marcus Peterson caught a game-high four passes for 41 yards. Junior wide receiver
Johnny Harding returned to the lineup after missing last week's game due to injury, catching three passes for 26 yards and a touchdown.

E.J. Taylor was limited to 62 yards on just 16 carries.

Ryan Van Tassel made a game-high 10 tackles for Hobart. Linebackers

Jack Ligarzewski and M.J. Wells each finished with eight stops. Senior cornerback
Zeshan Dixon notched his league-leading fourth interception, halting a first quarter RPI drive in the red zone.
RPI had the upper hand in time of possession (33:42-26:18) and eventual wore down Hobart's defense.
Second Quarter
- The Engineers opened the scoring five minutes into the second quarter on a 46-yard pass play.
- RPI added a field goal as time expired on the first half, cashing in on a late interception for a 10-0 lead.
Third Quarter
- The Engineers stretched their lead to 13-0 with a 28-yard field goal six minutes into the second half.
- RPI converted another interception deep in Hobart territory into points with just over five minutes left in the quarter. The Engineers went up 19-0 on a 6-yard run. The extra point was no good.
Fourth Quarter
- The Engineers took advantage of another Hobart turnover at the end of the third quarter, scoring a touchdown on a 3-yard run with eight minutes remaining for a 26-0 lead.
- Hobart answered with a 12-play, 81-yard drive capped by a 4-yard TD pass from Weiss to Harding.
- The Statesmen tried an on-side kick, but the Engineers (2-2, 1-0) record and scored on a 47-yard run on the next snap to complete the day's scoring.

- Hobart (2-2, 0-1) returns to Boswell Field for its next two games. The Statesmen will host Ithaca (3-1, 2-0) on Homecoming and Family Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 3.
