Winn-Seeley Gymnasium is the headquarters for William Smith Athletics. Since Winn-Seeley was built in 1970, the size of the athletics program tripled and in 1996 a large renovation project to upgrade Winn-Seeley was begun. A wing was added housing 12 new offices, giving each head coach his or her own space. A team meeting room, The Boswell Room, was added, along with the Heron Hall of Honor room. A women's locker room was divided into three spaces — one for women, one for men, and one for female coaches.
Winn-Seeley's smaller gym was converted into a new and larger studio for the Department of Dance, with better access to the dance performance area in the larger gym. The Dance faculty acquired newly renovated offices as well.
The Winn-Seeley Gym is named for William Smith Athletics pioneers Marcia Winn and Janet Seeley. The two professors played a lead role in the physical education and dance department for more than four decades, championing the female student-athlete. They were inducted into the Heron Hall of Honor with the inaugural Class of 1997.
