The Kent Butler '54 Memorial Award is awarded annually to the member of the basketball team who has demonstrated significant improvement, untiring perseverance and the will to win during the season or over the course of his career. The award has been endowed through the generous loyalty of Dr. Robert E. Ford '54.

This award was previously named the Most Valuable Player Award and the Butler-Ford Basketball Award.
