Presented to the senior whose leadership, determination, and character most reflect the traits and values of Bill Stiles '43. As a U.S. Marine in the Pacific Theater, Bill was honored with the Silver Star for valor and was twice awarded the Purple Heart. A true gentleman, Bill served the College as a coach, professor, and athletic director until his death on October 29, 1979. In 1983, Bill was posthumously awarded the James Lynah Memorial Award, given by the ECAC to an athletic director "who has achieved outstanding success in his career and has made an unusual contribution in the interest of intercollegiate athletics and their sound conduct." Bill was inducted into the
Hobart Hall of Fame in 1987. This award is endowed through the generous loyalty of the members of the Hobart Club of Rochester.
