The Kent D. Smack '97 Award recognizes the oarsman who has demonstrated the most improvement during the season or over the course of his career. Kent Smack started his rowing career as a novice for Hobart and developed into an Olympian for Team USA at the 2004 Athens Games. The SAA and Hobart rowing are deeply grateful for the generous loyalty of Robert E. Kandel '65 for endowing this award.
