Team of Distinction: 1985 Hobart Lacrosse

The 1985 Hobart lacrosse team was named a Team of Distinction on April 26, 2014. The 1985 season got off to a bumpy start. The Statesmen dropped their opener to Division I Johns Hopkins 10-8 and then lost at Washington 8-7 in overtime. It was the first time Hobart had lost to a Division III team since the division was founded in 1980. The Statesmen shook off the rough start and won 11 of their final 12 games, avenging the loss to the Shoremen in the national championship game with a 15-8 victory.  For the second time in his career, Marc Van Arsdale earned the tournament's Most Outstanding Player award. When the postseason honors were announced, Grimaldi brought home the Iroquois Nationals Award and Marc Van Arsdale captured the Lt. Col. Jack Turnbull Award. It was the sixth straight NCAA Division III national championship for the Statesmen.
