Ami Cammarota Ford is entering her fourth season as assistant coach for the William Smith field hockey team.
In 2017, Cammarota Ford helped the Herons to a 12-6 overall record. William Smith was 4-3 in the Liberty League and finished tied for third in the conference standings.
Cammarota Ford was an exceptional student-athlete. She was a two-time NFHCA All-Academic Squad selection and a GTE Academic All-American as a senior on her way to a bachelor's degree in economics and writing and public policy. Cammarota Ford earned an NCAA postgraduate scholarship.
As a midfielder for the Heron field hockey team, Cammarota Ford played in 84 career games, helping William Smith to a 64-20 record. She scored three goals and added three assists for the 1997 team that won 20 games and the NCAA Division III National Championship. Cammarota Ford earned the first of three straight all-region honors that year. In 1998, she scored a career-high 22 points as the Herons returned to the national championship game. Cammarota Ford was named to the All-America first team that season. In 1999, she capped her career with 19 points, helping William Smith win the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship. Cammarota Ford again was named a first team All-American.
Following graduation, Cammarota Ford spent several years teaching English as a second language at schools in San Diego, Calif., and Raleigh, N.C. From 2009 to 2013, she was the director of residential life at Saint Mary's School in Raleigh. Cammarota Ford also coached field hockey and lacrosse at the school.
In 2014, Cammarota Ford returned to her alma mater to serve as an assistant director of career services.
