After four seasons as a Hobart linebacker, Andrew Klindera traded in his helmet and pads for a clipboard and whistle. He will serve as a defensive assistant coach for the 2013 season.

A 2012 All-Liberty League second team selection, Klindera was a three-year starter at inside linebacker. He registered a league-high 108 tackles as a senior, including a career-high 12 stops in his final collegiate game at No. 3 St. Thomas. In 2012, the Statesmen were ranked fifth in the nation in total defense (241.0 yds/g), seventh in pass defense (143.23 yds/g), 10th in sacks (7.38/g), 22nd in rushing defense (97.77 yds/g), and 28th in scoring defense (17.31 ppg).

In 37 career games, Klindera recorded 201 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, six pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and a sack. He withdrew from school during the 2013 spring semester to play professional football in Furstenfeldbruck, Germany, for the Fursty Razorbacks.

Klindera will take two classes this semester to complete his bachelor’s degree in political science.

Hobart went 12-1 last season, the most wins in a season for the Statesmen. The 12 consecutive wins to start the campaign are also a Hobart single season record. The Statesmen captured their second consecutive, and eighth overall, Liberty League Championship with an unblemished 7-0 record. During his four seasons on campus, Klindera led Hobart to a 30-10 record and two NCAA playoff appearances.
