Buck Drach joins the Statesmen staff as the tight ends coach and will work under his son, Jon.
The elder Drach brings 38 years of scholastic coaching experience to Hobart’s offense. Over the years, he has compiled a 174-104 record, leading 13 teams to the Illinois State playoffs.Â
While at St. Charles East High School his teams won 11 conference championships in 16 seasons. Drach’s first stop as a head coach was Limestone Community High School where he led the Rockets to a Class 5A State runner-up finish in 1984.
Drach was inducted into the Limestone Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Illinois High School Football Coaches’ Hall of Fame in 2010.
Drach was a three-year letterman and two-year starter on the football team at Eastern Illinois University. He led the Panthers in receiving yards in 1973 and served as a team captain in 1974. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education and later a master’s degree in education from EIU while serving as a graduate assistant coach for the Panthers.
