Kevin McDonough joined the Hobart football coaching staff as the co-special teams coordinator, tight ends and specialists coach before the start of the 2024 season. He came to Geneva after spending six years on staff at Cornell University.
McDonough's first season in Geneva was a highly-successful one for the special teams units. Hobart set single season records for most field goals made (15) and highest yards per punt (43.58). The Statesmen kickoff return unit averaged 23.23 yards per return, the third highest in program history. McDonough served as a mentor to Liberty League Special Teams Player of the Year Tobias Wefering as well as All-American punter Vicente Lyon.

With the Big Red, McDonough served as a defensive intern in 2018, coached tight ends in 2019 and added assistant special teams coordinator in 2020. He coached two All-Ivy League tight ends and four All-Ivy League picks on special teams. The 2022 team ranked fifth in the nation in kickoff return defense.

McDonough served as a graduate assistant coach for video at Toledo in 2017, helping the Rockets to an 11-3 record, winning the MAC Championship Game and earning a spot in the Dollar General Bowl. Toledo earned votes in the top 25 of both major polls during the season. McDonough assisted in breaking down film, creating highlight videos and social media posts.

McDonough spent the two previous seasons at SUNY Brockport as the defensive backs coach and video coordinator. He coached a pair of all-conference players.

McDonough began his career as a student assistant coach at SUNY Cortland from 2011-14, serving as a training camp and equipment intern for the New York Jets in both 2013 and 2014.

McDonough earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Cortland in 2014 and a master's in recreational administration in 2018.
