Now in his fifth season as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Murphy serves as the program's community engagement coordinator and offensive line coach. He helped the Statesmen earn a postseason bid in each of his first four seasons.
Murphy has mentored 10 All-Liberty League linemen, including 2025 selections Ethan Kowalski, Aston Mejias and Quinn Broggy. Last season, Hobart's offensive line was 13th in the nation in tackles for loss allowed (3.55) and 42nd in sacks allowed (1.09). Both stats led the Liberty League.
As community engagement coordinator, Murphy oversees the team's service efforts on campus and in the greater Geneva community, including the highly successful Tackles and Touchdowns for Ability Partners, which raises funds on be half of the Ability Partners Foundation and Happiness House.
Murphy was a four-year offensive lineman at Hobart. He helped the Statesmen to a 35-9 record during his career, including two NCAA playoff appearances. Murphy was a member of the 2014 team’s 12-1 campaign that saw the Statesmen advance to the NCAA quarterfinals.
Murphy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in classics, classical languages, literature and linguistics.
