Ithaca native Matt Dorn was hired to serve as the John J. Hogan '88 Strength and Conditioning Head Coach for the Hobart and William Smith athletic departments in February of 2014.

Dorn oversees all aspects of the Hobart and William Smith strength and conditioning program and manages the Raleigh-Foley-Kraus Varsity Strength Training Center. He develops and implements training programs for all 23 varsity teams comprised of approximately 560 student-athletes.

Dorn came to the Colleges from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he served as the interim head strength and conditioning coach  from August 2013 until February 2014. He spent the previous year as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at RPI.

Dorn has nearly a decade of experience in various sports related fields as an exercise physiologist, personal trainer, and independent strength coach. He has previously worked at Cornell University, Ithaca College, and Island Health and Fitness in Ithaca. Dorn has worked with a wide-range of sports teams, including basketball, cross country, field hockey, football, ice hockey, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, and swimming and diving.

Dorn is a National Strength and Conditioning Association certified strength and conditioning specialist.

A 2007 graduate of Ithaca College, Dorn earned a bachelor's degree in clinical exercise science. He also has a master's degree in human performance from Ithaca. As an undergraduate, Dorn was a pitcher on the Bombers' baseball team. He made the Dean's List five consecutive semesters and the President's List twice.
