Matt Fleischacker joined the Hobart football coaching staff for the 2020-21 academic year. He spent his first season on staff working with the linebackers and assisting with special teams. In 2021, Fleischacker was the co-defensive coordinator and also coached the outside linebackers.
Last season, Fleischacker shared defensive coordinator duties with Michael Green. Together, they built a defensive unit that ranked in the top 20 in the nation in pass efficiency defense (11th, 95.74), scoring defense (12th, 12.6 ppg), passing defense (14th, 152.5 yds/g), opponent third down conversion (15th, 28.8%) and total defense (16th, 251.5 yds/g). The 2021 Statesmen posted a pair of shutouts (Morrisville and Rochester) and held three other opponents to single digits on the scoreboard (Alfred, #23 RPI and Westminster). The Statesmen had four defensive players earn All-Liberty League honors, headlined by Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year and consensus All-American, linebacker Emmett Forde '21.
