  • Title
    Running Backs Coach
Michael Cragg returns to the Hobart sideline for his 10th year as an assistant coach. This will be his fourth season as running backs coach. Cragg coached outside linebackers during his first four seasons on staff followed by two seasons working with the safeties.

Over the past three seasons, Cragg has worked with three of the nation's most elite running backs. In 2024, EJ Taylor was the only Liberty League running back to rush for 1,000-plus yards (1,196) while earning the Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year Award. The Ohio-native got stronger as the season progressed, finished the season with four straight 100-yard games, including a career-high 194 yards and three touchdowns in the NCAA playoff game at No. 6 Susquehanna. In 2022 and 2023, the tandem of Rayshawn Boswell and Tim Denham Jr. combined to rush for 2,401 yards plus 707 receiving yards while scoring 39 combined touchdowns on the ground and through the air. They earned five of their combined 10 All-Liberty League awards under his tutelage.

During his time coaching the linebackers, Cragg worked closely with two-time All-Liberty League linebackers Emmett Forde '21 and David McCarthy '20. In 2019, Hobart's defense was among the best in the nation, ranking in the top 20 in turnovers gained, fumbles gained, interceptions, turnover margin and red zone defense.

Cragg graduated from Le Moyne College in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in history. He returned to the Syracuse school and earned a master’s degree in education in 2017.

A 2012 graduate of DeSales High School, Cragg was an exceptional student-athlete. He was a five-year starter on the gridiron, playing quarterback, wide receiver, and linebacker. Cragg was twice named the team’s Special Teams MVP. He also helped the Saints capture Section V championships in basketball and baseball.
