Terry Muffley is entering his 12th season as Hobart’s defensive line coach and his ninth as a volunteer assistant coach for the lacrosse team.
On the gridiron, Muffley has overseen the development of 21 All-Liberty League linemen. Last year, he guided Mike Faracca ’10 and Kwame Lovell ’10 to spots on the all-conference team. In 2008, Muffley mentored All-Liberty League picks Ryan Aruck ’09 and Lovell, who combined for 129 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, and 3.5 sacks. A year earlier, Aruck, Lovell and Jim Drury ’08 were all-league honorees under Muffley’s watchful eye, combining for 138 tackles and 11 sacks.
In the spring, Muffley joins Hobart’s lacrosse coaching staff, working primarily with the faceoff specialists. Thanks to his efforts, the Statesmen are consistently among the best faceoff teams in the nation, ranking as high as ninth in 2005.
A former scholastic coach, Muffley was a fixture on the Geneva High School sidelines for more than two decades, assisting the Panthers’ football team to two league titles and the lacrosse team to three Section V crowns.
Muffley earned a bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps with service in Vietnam, Muffley lives in Geneva with his wife, Cindy. They have two grown children, Patrick and Bess.
