Wunder joined the Hobart coaching staff before the 2018-19 season after successful stints as the head coach at Keuka College and lead assistant coach at the University of Rochester and San Francisco State University.
 
At Keuka, Wunder’s best season, the 2005-06 campaign, saw him lead the program to the most wins (16) in over 20 years. He was named NEAC Coach of the Year twice.
 
Prior to Keuka, Wunder was responsible for the recruitment of much of the roster at Rochester that advanced to the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship national semifinals in 2002, a roster that included current Hobart Head Coach Tim Sweeney.
 
A 1986 graduate of Rochester, Wunder played basketball for the Yellowjackets under the direction of legendary coach Mike Neer, who also led Hobart for three seasons, and Jay Wright, now the head coach at Villanova.
 
Wunder returns to coaching while working full time as vice president at SOAR, a firm dedicated to the recruitment and placement of military veterans returning from active duty. A Marine, Wunder served in Operation Desert Storm. He rose to the rank of major before completing his military service.
 
Wunder began his coaching career at UC-Irvine.
 
George and his wife, Eileen, have three daughters, Liz, Emily and Caitlin.
