Ken DeBolt

A native of Geneva, N.Y., Ken DeBolt has served as the director of athletic communications for Hobart and William Smith Colleges since January of 1999. This is his second tour with the Colleges, after serving as the athletic communications assistant in 1996.

As the director of athletic communications, DeBolt oversees the promotion of all 30 intercollegiate teams. His office maintains the official athletics website and social media streams, acts as a liaison between the athletic department and the local, regional, and national media, oversees webcasting of home athletic contests and serves as athletics historian, recording game, season, and career statistics. DeBolt has also served as the primary media contact for the 2002 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship, the 2006 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship, the 2007 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship, and the 2012 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship. All four events were hosted by William Smith College.

An active member of College Sports Communicators (CSC), DeBolt served on the CSC Committee on Committees from 1997 to 2010. He joined the Academic All-America committee in 2010. Additionally, his work on the Hobart Football media guide was been recognized in the annual Publications Contest, earning fourth in the nation in 1999, 2001, and 2006. In 2022, DeBolt's profile on Ali Marpet's rise from Division III football player to Super Bowl Champion "Defying The Odds" was recognized with a CASE District II Award.

Prior to his return to Hobart and William Smith, DeBolt served as the sports information director at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. From 1996 through 1998, he directed the media relations for the Maroons' 19 intercollegiate teams and coached Roanoke’s club baseball team. He also worked as a media assistant with eight NCAA Division II and III National Championships, co-hosted by the City of Salem and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

An active member of the Geneva community, DeBolt has been a volunteer in the Geneva Fire Department since 1993. He has served the C.J. Folger Hook & Ladder Company as a lieutenant and as a captain and has been a member of the Company's board of directors. DeBolt has earned the company’s Firefighter of the Year Award several times. He also has been a member of the Sons of the American Legion for more than 30 years.

In 2015, DeBolt was presented with CoSIDA's Bob Kenworthy Community Service Award and, a year later, he received ECAC-SIDA's Bob Kenworthy Award. In 2018, he was presented with ECAC-SIDA's Irving T. Marsh Service Bureau Award.

A 1995 graduate of the University of Dayton, DeBolt holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He and his wife, Janine, live in Geneva with their two children.
