Since 2021, Stephanie Habecker has led the HWS Sports Medicine Department. The assistant athletic director for sports medicine/head athletic trainer joined the sports medicine staff as an assistant athletic trainer in 2018. She also serves as the athletics healthcare administrator.
During her time at the Colleges, Habecker has worked with athletes from all of the Colleges' sports, serving as the primary athletic trainer for basketball, Hobart cross country, golf, Hobart lacrosse, William Smith soccer and squash.
A member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association, Habecker came to the Colleges after receiving her master's degree in kinesiology from A.T. Still University. She had a dual concentration in sports conditioning and corrective exercise and orthopedic rehabilitation.
While finishing her master's degree, Habecker worked for the Colleges on a per diem basis for a year and a half. She also spent time working at Keuka College. Habecker served as the head athletic trainer at Finger Lakes Community College for a year where she was the primary sports health care provider for student-athletes, organized and administered baseline concussion testing and managed pre-participation health clearance. Habecker also served as the head athletic trainer for BrownStone Physical Therapy for a year.
Habecker earned her bachelor's degree in athletic training from Ithaca College, graduating cum laude in 2012.
