Andrew Mason returned to his alma mater to assist the Hobart ice hockey coaching staff as the director of hockey operations at the start of the 2016-17 academic year.

A 2013 graduate with a bachelor’s in political science and American studies, Mason served as a student manager for the Statesmen during his four years at Hobart. He managed the Statesmen’s social media accounts and was responsible for filming games and breaking down video for the coaching staff.

After graduation, Mason went to work for the Columbus Blue Jacket organization for three years. He was initially hired as the hockey operations intern and worked primarily with the Amateur Video Scouting Department, analyzing video on 2014 and 2015 NHL Draft prospects. Mason then worked as the hockey operations assistant for the Lake Erie Monsters. His primary responsibilities included assisting players and staff with employment paperwork and facilitating player movement between Lake Erie and Columbus. He also had administrative duties and assisted the coaching staff with player performance analytics.
