Hobart and William Smith Colleges Head Sailing Coach Scott Iklé '84will welcome back Sarah Warren '18 as an assistant coach this season.

"I'm excited to have Sarah join the coaching staff this year," Iklé said. "She was an outstanding student-athlete and leader for our team. Sarah was key to our success over the past four years and I'm looking forward to her sharing her knowledge and skills with the team."

Warren was a four-year member on the Colleges sailing team. This spring, she helped William Smith finish third out of 18 teams at the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association Sperry Women's National Championship in Norfolk, Va. It was the Herons' best finish at the women's national championship in program history. Warren competed as crew in B Division. In April, Warren helped William Smith win the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association's Women's Championship. She teamed up with sophomore Kate Cox to win B Division with 47 points. It was the Herons' fourth conference championship and first since 2008.

"Sarah was crucial to the women's team success this past season," Iklé added. "As our starting crew in B Division, she became a mentor to Kate Cox, helping her develop as a skipper."

Warren competed at the ICSA National Championships in each of her four years. She competed at both the coed and the women's national championships as a first-year and sophomore. In 2016, Warren helped the Colleges finish 12th at both the women's national championship and the coed national championship, competing in A Division as Crew in both regattas. Following her sophomore season, Warren was named All-MAISA crew and was presented the Christine Jurczak '00 Sailing Coach's Award as William Smith's most improved sailor.

Warren was a MAISA All-Academic selection three times and as a junior earned ICSA All-Academic honors.

Warren graduated cum laude in May with a bachelor's degree in geoscience.
