Jeff Oliver returns for his fifth year as the assistant soccer coach. Over the past three seasons, he helped the Statesmen to a 52-15-12 record, including three straight trips to the NCAA Tournament, the 2008 Liberty League regular season title and the 2009 Liberty League Championship.
Oliver assists in all day-to-day operations for the Hobart soccer program in both the traditional and non-traditional seasons, including: recruiting, planning and conducting training sessions, scouting opponents, game analysis and video, budgeting, and coordinating travel arrangements. In addition, Oliver assists with alumni relations, community service, game management, facilities, and other projects within the department and the HWS community.
Prior to joining the staff at Hobart, Oliver served as an assistant coach at both Vassar College (2006-07) and Nazareth College, where he helped the Golden Flyers to an Empire 8 Conference Championship and the school’s first NCAA Tournament berth (2005).
Oliver has also had success while coaching with the Empire United Soccer Academy (EUSA), formerly the Rochester (N.Y.) Junior Rhinos. He is currently the head coach for the EUSA (Rochester) Boys Under-17 Blue team, after capturing three New York State West Cup titles (2011, 2008, 2001), two US Youth Soccer Region I semi-final appearances (2011, 2001) making two State Cup Finals appearances (2006, 2005), and a US Club Soccer National Championship (2010). Oliver holds a U.S. Soccer Federation “A” License as well as a National Soccer Coaches Association of American Premier Diploma.
A 1998 graduate of Fredonia State, Oliver earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and secondary mathematics education. He was a three-year member of the nationally-ranked Blue Devils soccer team that won three SUNYAC Championships and earned two NCAA Tournament berths.
Following graduation from Fredonia, Oliver taught high school mathematics for seven years. He currently resides in Rochester with his wife, Jenelle, and their newborn son Owen Robert.
