Brandell joined the Hobart soccer staff in February of 2022.
In his first three seasons in Geneva, Brandell has helped Hobart to a 25-17-13 overall record, 3 consecutive Liberty League tournament appearances, 1 Liberty League tournament title, and 1 NCAA tournament appearance. He has helped mentor 15 All-Liberty League selections, 4 United Soccer Coaches All-Region III selections, and 1 United Soccer Coaches Academic All-American.
In 2024, Brandell helped guide Hobart to a 5-6-6 overall record. The Statesmen were 4-2-3 in conference play and earned the four seed in the Liberty League tournament. La Zai Outerbridge and Brady Leitner earned All-Liberty League first team nods. Griffin Coutts and Matheus Souza each earned a spot on the third team. Outerbridge was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region III Third Team.
In 2023, Brandell helped guide Hobart to a 12-6-2 overall record. The Statesmen were 7-1-1 in conference play and captured the Liberty League regular season and tournament titles. Hobart made its eighth appearance in the NCAA tournament. Connor Koschineg, Frederick Madsen, and Nolan Fierro earned a spot on the All-Liberty League first team. Amad Miller, Guillermo Castaneda Chang, Quinn Phillips, and La Zai Outerbridge earned All-Liberty League second team nods. Jacob Siegel was an All-Liberty League honorable mention selection. Koschineg, Madsen, and Fierro were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region III first, second, and third teams, respectively. Koschineg was named a United Soccer Coaches Academic All-American.
In 2022, Brandell helped guide Hobart to an 8-5-5 overall record. After missing out on the Liberty League tournament in 2021, Hobart returned as the six seed after posting a 3-2-4 overall record. The eight wins were highlighted by victories over 7th-ranked Rochester and 20th-ranked Clarkson. Amad Miller, Connor Koschineg, and Sam Lescher earned All-Liberty League honorable mention honors.
Brandell came to Hobart after spending two years at Gettysburg College as an assistant coach. The 2020 season as cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, he guided the Bullets to a 13-6-2 overall record, a runner-up finish in the Centennial Conference tournament, and a NCAA Tournament appearance. He mentored six All-Centennial Conference selections.
Before Gettysburg, Brandell spent two years as a graduate assistant at Misericordia University. The Cougars were 4-1-2 in MAC Freedom play during the 2019 season, earning the three seed in the conference tournament. In 2018, the Cougars were 4-3 in MAC Freedom play and earned the four seed in the conference tournament. He mentored 7 All-MAC Freedom selections over two seasons. Brandell completed his master’s degree in organizational management with a concentration in human resources in 2020.
Brandell graduated cum laude from St. Lawrence University in 2017 with B.A. in Economic and Environmental Studies. He was a two-time captain for the Saints, earning All-Liberty League, All-Region, and All-ECAC honors.
Brandell holds a USSF B-License.
Brandell resides in Geneva with his Wife, Kelly, and their son, Peter.
