Cerqua was named to the Hobart College volleyball coaching staff prior to the start of its inaugural season in 2024. He comes to Hobart after an illustrious career at St. John Fisher University, where he played for coach England. Cerqua was a starter and captain for the Cardinals during the program’s first five seasons.

In his five seasons at Fisher, Cerqua was named the Empire 8 Libero of the Year four times followed by a UVC Libero of the Year selection in his final season as Fisher captured the UVC Championship. His career as a Cardinal was filled with several accolades, including two All-Region selections. Cerqua was honored as a first-team All-American in 2020 and a second-team All-American in 2022. He sits first on the all-time digs list (1,293) at Fisher and third all-time in digs in all of Division III.

The Baldwinsville, New York, native has spent the last three years with VolleyFX Volleyball Club based out of Rochester, coaching the 14-2’s team, the 16-1’s team and the 17-1’s team. In 2023, Cerqua was also the head assistant coach for the McQuaid Jesuit High School varsity program, helping the Knights to a 17-2 overall record.
