Harnen joined the coaching staff in August of 2022.

In 2023-24, Harnen guided William Smith to a 17-9-1 overall record. The Herons were 11-6-1 in NEHC play, earning the No. 3 seed. They defeated Castleton in the first round of the NEHC tournament. 

In her first season in Geneva, Harnen led the Herons to a 12-13-1 overall record. The Herons went 9-8-0 in NEHC play finishing as the No. 6 seed. They defeated Castleton in the first round of the NEHC tournament. 

Harnen comes to Geneva after serving as an assistant coach for Curry College during its inaugural season. The Colonels upset second-seeded Suffolk to reach the semifinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament last season. While in Milton, Massachusetts, Harnen assisted with the planning of practices, recruiting, supervision of study halls and coordinating team travel plans. She helped mentor one All-CCC selection and one CCC All-Academic selection.

Harnen also spent two years as an assistant coach for Northland College. She helped the LumberJills collect 14 wins while assisting in daily practice planning and implementing skill sessions throughout the season. Harnen helped mentor one All-NCHA pick and three All-WIAC selections. Seven players earned NCHA All-Academic honors under her guidance.

Harnen earned a bachelor’s degree from Adrian College in exercise science. She holds a master’s degree in sports leadership with a concentration in collegiate athletics from Northeastern University.

While at Northeastern, Harnen worked as a graduate assistant in the athletic business office. She also spent a year working as an intern in the Harvard University ticket office.
