William Smith Lacrosse Interim Head Coach Brighde Dougherty recently announced that Kathryn Durki will join the Heron staff as a part time assistant coach for the 2012-13 season.
“We are thrilled to have Kathryn join us. She brings with her a great passion for the sport and a wealth of experience that we look forward to incorporating into our program,” Dougherty said.
Durki comes to William Smith following four seasons as the head coach of the Clarkson University women's lacrosse team. In 2012, the Golden Knights won seven games, setting a new single-season mark at Clarkson. Durki spent the summer of 2011 in Berlin coaching the USA Athletes International team in five games, including the championship game. Prior to being named the head coach at Clarkson, Durki served as an assistant coach for the Golden Knights during the 2007-08 season.
A native of Canton, N.Y., Durki was a four-year starter on the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team. She was tabbed an honorable mention All-American after her rookie season, and earned second team All-American honors in her senior year. She was a three-time All-Liberty League honoree, and competed in the Division III North-South game in 2007. Durki graduated from St. Lawrence with a bachelor's degree in environmental studies with a minor in sports and exercise science.
