Crisonino joined the William Smith rowing staff in July of 2024.
Crisonino is a 2024 graduate of Connecticut College. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history and music while competing as a coxswain on the Camel’s men's rowing team. She spent two years in the varsity eight, serving as captain during her senior year. Following her senior season, Crisonino was named the team’s Most Valuable Player.
“The team and I are thrilled to welcome Callista to Geneva!” Bugenhagen said. “She is a passionate competitor who has great leadership skills and instincts. She also has enormous pride for the opportunities and experience that come with being a Division III athlete. I’m excited with how aligned we are in creating a space for all of our athletes to thrive and her excitement for our team culture, and the values that we’re using to guide us towards a national championship. William Smith is an exciting place for Callista to start her college coaching career, and I’m eager to see Coach Crisonino put her energy, work ethic, care, and rowing knowledge into helping our Herons accomplish their goals.”
Crisonino, who graduated with distinction in both history and music, was named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Academic team twice. She also earned the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Award twice. Crisonino received Connecticut College’s Jack Goldberg Prize for Gifted Musicians and received Dean’s honors and high honors in the classroom.
Crisonino started her coaching career at Riverfront Recapture each of the past two summers. She worked with the Learn to Row program, teaching adult and youth sweeps. She also worked with the intermediate adult and youth sculling programs. Crisonino is a program leader at the Sparks OKC Sparks Coxswain Challenge this summer. She also was a volunteer with the Bishop Eustace Learn to Row program. She instructed youth between 12 and 18 on the basics of sweep rowing.
William Smith will begin its 2024-25 season on Oct. 12, when it heads to Rochester, New York, for the Head of the Genesee.
