Dr. James Mark is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, with specialty board certification in orthopaedic sports medicine. He has served as a orthopaedic sports medicine consultant and team physician to Hobart and William Smith Colleges since 1996.
A graduate of Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Dr. Mark served 10 years active duty in the U.S. Navy, followed by 11 years in the Naval Reserves. He completed surgical internship, three years as a naval flight surgeon, four years of resident training and two years as a Navy orthopaedic staff surgeon at Submarine Base Groton, Connecticut. In Groton, Dr. Mark also served as the sports medicine team physician to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
Dr. Mark devotes the majority of his practice at lnterlakes Orthopaedic Surgery of Finger Lakes Health to the care and management of sports related injuries. He prides himself on the use of current technologies and protocols for surgical and conservative treatment management of sports and traumatic injuries.Â
Dr. Mark is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine along with numerous other local and national medical and Orthopaedic societies. Dr. Mark is a long-standing member of Statesmen Athletic Association and the Heron Society.Â
Dr. Mark and his orthopaedic team of excellent physician assistants and nurse practitioners provide game coverage for numerous athletic events at HWS.Â
