Hobart and William Smith Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian Miller announced today that Whitney Stewart, a highly accomplished player and coach, will serve as the next head coach of Hobart and William Smith squash. A champion squash player at the junior, collegiate and professional levels, she comes to Geneva following six years as the boys varsity head coach at Hopkins School in New Haven, Conn.
Additionally, Stewart's coaching career includes more than seven years as an assistant squash pro at Ox Ridge Riding & Racquet Club, St. Luke's School Club and Intensity Club. She spent five years as the teaching pro and ran the juniors program at Boca Raton Squash Club.

A graduate of Yale University, Stewart has a bachelor's degree in film. She was a four-year member of the Bulldogs' squash team playing in the top three spots of the ladder. A two-time All-Ivy League selection and a two-time first team All-American, Stewart helped the Bulldogs win a national championship in 1986.

Following graduation, Stewart played professionally in France for four years. She was ranked as high as No. 5 in France, winning a French National Club Team Championship in 1993. Stewart also played two years on an A Level club team in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Stewart also won several junior squash national championships when she was coached by former Hobart Squash Head Coach Carol Weymuller.
