Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.–The Hobart College lacrosse team halted a three game losing streak with a 21-5 pounding of visiting Holy Cross. Hobart scored the first nine goals of the contest and cruised to its most lopsided victory since knocking off Canisius 24-3 on April 14, 1999.
Sophomore attackman John Bogosian (Kent School/Massena, N.Y.) led 16 Statesmen who scored at least a point with seven points on two goals and five assists. Senior attackman Jamie Breslin (Mountain Lakes/Mountain Lakes, N.J.), who began the afternoon 20th in career points and 17th in career goals, recorded four goals to raise his career totals to 89-43-132, and tied Lance Savage '90 for 15th on the career goals list.
Senior Jason Ouellet (Avon Old Farms/Cheshire, Conn.) posted a hat trick, while junior David Spratlen (Colorado Academy/Littleton, Colo.) and sophomore Kris Shore (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.) added two goals and an assist apiece.
Hobart (5-4, 5-1) completely dominated the contest, holding a 55-21 advantage on shots, 50-28 on ground balls, and 22-7 on faceoffs. The Statesmen played all 45 players on their roster with first-years Geoff Zbikowski (C.W. Baker/Baldwinsville, N.Y.), Dan Cesere (Holderness School/Concord, N.H.), and Drew Pfau (Fayetteville-Manlius/Manlius, N.Y.), and senior Joe Leska (Vestal/Vestal, N.Y.) all picking up their first goal of the season.
At the faceoff X, sophomore Tim Booth (Waterloo/Waterloo, N.Y.) turned in the finest performance of his young career, winning all 11 restarts he took this afternoon.
Sophomore Mike Borsz (West Genesee/Camillus, N.Y.) and first-years Avram Feld (Middlebury/Middlebury, Vt.) and Taylor Coe (Lake Forest/Lake Forest, Ill.) combined to turn away six shots.
Five different Crusaders (1-11, 0-6) netted goals led by senior Rich Santoro (Hingham, Mass.) who also assisted on two other scores. Brian McKeon (Auburn, N.Y.) and Stefano deStefano combined to make 11 saves.
The Statesmen return to action on Tues., April 24, when they host second-ranked Syracuse at 4:30 p.m., on Boswell Field.
NOTES: The Hobart lacrosse game in the 2001 Artificial Turf Stadium was followed by the William Smith vs. Rochester lacrosse game, marking the first time since the Herons began playing lacrosse that Hobart and William Smith had played lacrosse on the same field on the same day ... Bogosian raised his team-leading point total to 39 (18-21) ... The Statesmen scored on their first 12 shots on goal before McKeon registered a save ... First-year T.J. Rogers (Canandaigua/Canandaigua, N.Y.) made his first collegiate start this afternoon on attack ... Senior John Cesere (Bishop Brady/Concord, N.H.) became just the second Statesman long pole to record an assist (Bryan Bome registered a helper at Penn State).
