The William Smith College swimming and diving team fell to Alfred this afternoon, 135-107. The Herons fall to 2-1 in dual meets, while the Saxons improve to 2-4.
Senior
Lynn Cutter (St. Gertrude/ Midlothian, Va.) was a triple-winner for William Smith, while sophomore
Ellen Ellison (Our Lady of Mercy/Farmington, N.Y.) was a double-winner. Both led the 400-yard medley relay team to victory, along with sophomore
Lindsay Simonson (New Paltz/New Paltz, N.Y.) and sophomore
Erin Houck (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College). They touched first with a time of 4 minutes, 30.81 seconds.
Ellison also placed first in the 1000 free, recording a time of 11:58.48, while Cutter won both the 200 free and 500 free. Cutter won the former with a time of 2:03.23, and the later with a time of 5:33.78, nearly 10 seconds ahead of the runner-up from Alfred.
The Herons will be back in action on Dec. 5, when they compete in the Liberty League Championships hosted by Rensselaer and Union.
