Big 2nd half lifts Bombers over Statesmen

Box Score ITHACA, N.Y.--Hobart trailed Ithaca by just seven points at halftime, but the host Bombers caught fire after the break, pulling away for a 118-81 non-conference victory in Ben Light Gymnasium. The Statesmen slip to 0-2 on the season, while Ithaca improves to 2-0.

Sophomore Rob Estep led Hobart with 14 points, while first-year Matt Pebole added 11 points and a team-high six rebounds. Estep hit all five of his shots from the floor. The Statesmen shot 42.9 percent from the floor.

Sean Burton led five Bombers in double digits with a game-high 28 points, while Jeff Bostic chipped in a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ithaca shot 54.1 percent from the floor, including 11 three-pointers.

Hobart trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half, but used an 11-4 run to end the frame down by just seven. Estep scored five points during the surge, carding 12 points before the break.

Ithaca's 17-2 run early in the second half to balloon an eight-point edge into a comfortable 23-point lead.
