Hobart squash splits on Day 1 of Liberty League Tourney

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.--The Hobart squash team split its first two matches at the Liberty League Championship Tournament today. The Statesmen defeated host Vassar 9-0, but fell to Rochester by the same count.

Against the Brewers, Cale Forgues earned the win at No. 1 when his opponent retired, while Peter Hansen, Luke Esselen, Corey Kabot, Grant Palermo, Craig Chircop, Kevin Kent, Alex Khaddar, and George Riggs all won in three straight games at No. 2 through No. 9, respectively.

In the afternoon, the Yellowjackets turned the tables on the Statesmen (3-3), winning all nine matches 3-0.

Hobart will wrap up the tournament at 9 a.m. on Nov. 23, when the Statesmen take on St. Lawrence.
