GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College lacrosse team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end by a score of 15-7 at the hands of eighth-ranked Cornell University in the first night game ever played on Boswell Field. The Statesmen end the season with an 8-6 record, while the Big Red improves to 11-3.

Jeff Colburn (CNS/Liverpool, N.Y.) set up the Statesmen's first four tallies for a career-high four assists.
Cornell's John Glynn led all scorers with six points (2-4), while Christopher Ritchie (3-0), Max Seibald (2-1), and Ryan Hurley (2-1) all contributed three points.

Shots (39-30) and ground balls (28-26) were relatively even with Cornell holding a slight advantage in both categories. The Big Red controlled the faceoff X, winning 19-of-25, and scored three extra-man goals on 10 chances. Matt Smalley (Avon Old Farms/Cumberland, R.I.) collected a career-high matching 11 ground balls for the Statesmen.

Daryl Veltman (Salisbury School/Coquitlam, B.C.) interrupted the run with his 25th goal of the year, but the Big Red rattled off five straight tallies to build an 8-1 lead midway through the second quarter.
A man-up score by Currie at the 6:37 mark of the second made it 8-2, but the Big Red scored twice more to carry an eight-goal lead into the break.
The Statesmen netted three of the first four goals of the second half to trim their deficit to 11-5 with five minutes to go in the third quarter. Senior attackman
Jamie Kirk (Salisbury School/Orangeville, Ontario), Veltman, and sophomore
Doug Shiver (Delbarton/Morristown, N.J.) found the back of the net for Hobart, but the Big Red answered with the final two goals of the third stanza to squash any thoughts of a comeback.
Kirk finished the campaign with a team-high 40 points (15-25) and completed his two-season Hobart career with 63 assists, 16th on the all-time list and third among Division I Statesmen. Coupled with two seasons at Vermont, he produced 153 career points (49-104).
Veltman's stellar career totals include a Hobart Division I record 109 goals (15th all-time) and 53 assists for a Statesmen DI record 162 points (15th).
Silberlicht finished the season with an 8.05 goals against average, a Hobart DI record, while Smalley upped his career ground ball total to 198, the fourth highest total by a Statesman since 1995.
