Cutter, Houck get wins against Ithaca

GENEVA, N.Y.--William Smith swimmers senior Lynn Cutter and sophomore Erin Houck posted individual victories, but Ithaca left Bristol Pool with a 165-75 dual meet victory.

Cutter swam the 1,000-yard freestyle for just the second time in her life, and like the first time, picked up a victory, posting a time of 11 minutes, 12.96 seconds. She also placed second in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.68.

Houck was victorious in the 100 freestyle, touching in at 57.64 seconds, 35 hundredths of a second ahead of the runner up. She placed second in the 50 free in 26.45, 33 hundredths of a second behind the winner.

The Bombers won 11 of the night's 14 events. William Smith was awarded first place points in the final event of the meet, the 200 free relay, with Ithaca swimming exhibition entries.

The Herons will be back in the pool at noon on Jan. 31, when they host Cazenovia.
