GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith swimming and diving team, lead by
Charlotte Scott, defeated visiting Alfred 139-98 this afternoon. She posted three of the Herons eight wins in the meet.
Scott won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:40.45), 200 butterfly (2:32.18), and 500 free (5:42.46). Her time in the 1,000 was more than seven seconds faster than the runner up.
Casey Sherwin and
Katie Stebbins both recorded two individual victories and teamed up for a relay win. The pair, along with Ariana Vasquez and
Alisha Rexford, won the 400 medley relay by more than 13 seconds over the Saxons.
Sherwin led a 1-2 finish in both the 200 free (2:06.81) and the 200 backstroke (2:21.52). Vasquezwas second in the 200 free, while
Jessica Cook was the runner up in the 200 backstroke.
Stebbins won the 200 individual medley in 2:26.04 and led a 1-2 finish of her own in the 200 breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:41.17, five seconds ahead of
Heidi Gordon.
Alfred (1-4) had two double winners. Kylie Smith won on the 1-meter (217.10) and 2-meter boards (211.20), while Sarah Blair captured the 50 free (25.35) and the 100 free (56.43). The team of Meghan Jones, Shelby Remington, Nicole Ramos, and Blair won the 400 free relay (4:01.27).
William Smith (2-1) will be back in action at noon on Nov. 21, when the Herons host Cobleskill.
