William Smith College first-year Joanie Hilton (Shady Side Academy/Pittsburgh, Pa.) was named the Liberty League Women's Tennis Co-Rookie of the Week today by the league office. She helped the Herons to a 2-1 record last week.

Hilton posted a 2-1 mark at No. 4 singles, and teamed with senior Chelsea Rauck (Columbus School for Girls/Bexley, Ohio) for a 2-1 record at No. 1 doubles as well. Hilton handily defeated Jess Faber of Nazareth 6-0, 6-2 on Thursday, before prevailing 6-1, 6-1 over RIT's Michele Caporali on Saturday. She joined Rauck for an 8-5 win over the Golden Flyers' Rachel Leonard and Kelly Noble, and they topped the Tigers' Amanda Berg and Brianne Francisco 9-7. Hilton and Rauck own an 11-4 doubles record this year, while Hilton holds a 9-5 individual mark.

The Herons (6-3) will be back in action on April 11, when they travel to St. Lawrence. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
