Hobart junior sailor
Sam Blouin finished third in the Carl Van Duyne regatta, qualifing for the ICSA Men's Singledhanded National Championship in St. Petersburg, Fla., Nov. 5-7. He's the third HWS sailor to qualify for this year's singlehanded nationals.
Blouin won two races and finished in the top five seven times in the 18-race series. He joins senior
Kelly Crane and first-year
Arielle deLisser, who qualified for the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship two weeks ago.
The Statesmen also got strong performances in the Van Duyne by sophomore
Tim Zacher and senior
Sam Padnos, who finished fifth and sixth respectively, narrowly missing one of the four qualifying spots.
The HWS sailing team was also in action in the Navy Fall Women's Regatta, the HWS Fall Intersectional, and the Moody Trophy.

Rebecca Liggins finished eighth in A division, senior
Caroline Patten and first-year
Jane Rew placed second in B division, and first-year
Brooke Lyon took sixth in C division. Patten and Rew were particularly impressive, posting five victories and finishing in the top three 10 times in the 16-race series. For Crane and Patten, it was their highest team finish at the Navy Fall regatta in their collegiate careers.
At home on Seneca Lake, HWS Sailors finished third out of 17 teams. Fourteen races were sailed in each division under bright blue skies with winds from 5-15 knots. Junior

Bridget Nannig scored 81 points in A division to claim a fourth place finish and first year
Louis Padnos and junior
Chris Klevan scored 81 points in B division to claim a third place finish.
In Rhode Island at the Moody, HWS finished fourth in the 18-team field. Seniors

Holly Huffine finished sixth in A division and junior
Patrick Kana and senior
Hannah Littell finished seventh in B division.
The team competes next weekend in three events, the Navy Fall regatta in Annapolis, Md., the Captain Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth, and the North No. 2 at Cornell.
