BOSTON—For the fifth year in a row, the Hobart varsity eight finished in the top 10 of the collegiate eights division at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta. The Statesmen were sixth out of 42 crews in the largest rowing event in the world.
On Sunday, Hobart's top crew covered the 5,000-meter course in 15 minutes, 15.768 seconds. The Statesmen were less than three seconds behind fifth place Notre Dame. Florida Institute of Technology posted a winning time of 14:43.373 followed by Williams, Trinity, and Virginia. Hobart was well ahead of local rivals like RIT (26th), Ithaca (27th), and St. Lawrence (37th).

Coty Burgess. Hobart has finished in the top 10 every year since 2006, including a bronze medal winning effort in 2007.
On Saturday, Hobart's second varsity eight competed in the club eights division, placing 18th out of 42 crews. Battling windy conditions on an otherwise perfect fall day, the Statesmen logged a time of 16:39.822. Harvard won the event in 15:09.811.
