Hobart splits on Day 1 of Liberty League Squash Tourney

Results: Hobart 9, Vassar 0 | Rochester 7, Hobart 2

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—
The 25th-ranked Hobart squash team split a pair of matches on the first day of the Liberty League Championship Tournament. The Statesmen defeated host Vassar 9-0, but fell to No. 4 Rochester 7-2.

Corey Kabot lost the first game to the Brewers' Jacob Harris 11-9, but rebounded for wins of 11-6, 11-3, and 11-8 to win the closest match. Hobart won matches No. 2 through No. 9, 3-0.

The Yellowjackets won six of their seven points 3-0, with the seventh match finishing 3-1. Hobart got victories at No. 8 from William Boyle (3-0) and at No. 9 from Kevin Kent (3-1).

The Statesmen will wrap up the tournament at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20 against No. 16 St. Lawrence.
