deLisser takes third at ICSA Women's Singlehanded Championships

William Smith first-year Arielle deLisser finished third out of 18 sailors at the ICSA Women's Singlehanded Championships held in Tampa, Fla. on Nov. 5-7. Senior Kelly Crane also competed at the championships, and junior Sam Blouin raced in the ICSA Men's Singlehanded Championships over the weekend.

deLisser finished in the top three in six out of her 18 races, including earning two victories. Crane earned a 15th place finish at the women's championships. Blouin placed 15th in the men's championship.

William Smith sailors were also in action at the MAISA Women's Fall Championships in Norfolk, Va. over the weekend. The Herons finished second out of 11 teams. In the A Division, senior Caroline Patten  and first-year Jane Rew teamed up to earn a first place finish. They placed in the top three in 10 out of their 11 races, including posting three victories. In the B Division, the team of senior Sarah Yuskaitis, first-year Brooke Lyon, and first-year Camille Conover sailed to a third place finish. They placed in the top three in six out of the 11 races.

HWS sailors also competed in Kings Point, N.Y., at the MAISA Match Race Championship, and recorded a seventh place finish.

The HWS sailing team will be back in action on Nov. 13 and 14 in Annapolis, Md. at the Atlantic Coast Dinghy Championships. William Smith sailors will also be competing over the weekend in St. Petersburg, Fla. at the Atlantic Coast Women's Championships.
