GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College tennis team defeated Brockport 9-0 this afternoon at Bristol Field House. The Herons improve to 11-3 overall.
Juniors
Amanda Slack and
Melissa Slack earned an 8-2 win over Erin McLaughlin and Katie Keller at first doubles to start the day, then went on to record singles victories at No. 1 and No.2, respectively. Amanda topped Katelyn Richenberg 6-0, 6-1, while Melissa defeated McLaughlin by the same score.
Senior
Shari Damon picked up her ninth singles win of the year, earning a 6-1, 6-2 decision vs. Kaitlyn Broderick at No. 3, while first-years
Remy Raevsky and
Hallsey Leighton, and sophomore
Jess McCue prevailed at Nos. 4, 5, and 6, respectively. Raevsky currently leads the team in singles wins with a 15-4 mark.
Raevsky joined sophomore
Katie Serock at second doubles, while Damon and McCue paired up at No. 3. Both tandems blanked their opponents 8-0.
The Herons will be in action again tomorrow, April 18, when they host Cortland at 1 p.m. This match was originally scheduled to take place at Cortland, but the location has changed due to the weather.
