GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College tennis team topped Cortland 8-1 this afternoon at Bristol Field House. The Herons improved to 12-3 overall, while the Red Dragons slipped to 8-5 on the season.
In doubles play, juniors
Amanda Slack and
Melissa Slack combined for an 8-3 win over Alyssa Tretter and Kara Kaufield at No. 1, while first-year
Remy Raevsky and sophomore
Katie Serock battled for a 9-8 win vs. Loraine Jelinek and Gabby Medina at No. 2. At No. 3, senior
Shari Damon and sophomore
Jess McCue defeated Alana Sullivan and Megan Bagg 8-2.
Amanda Slack went on to top Jelinek 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1, while
Melissa Slack earned a 6-4, 6-1 decision vs. Kaufield at No. 2. Raevsky, first-year
Hallsey Leighton and McCue rounded out the lineup, prevailing at Nos. 4, 5, and 6, respectively.
The William Smith tennis team will be back on the courts on April 21, when the Herons host Ithaca at 4:30 p.m.
